Where do we even begin? I can’t speak for Jen, but I will speak for myself and Dave and many of Matt’s friends when I quote Josh Groban…
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains.
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas.
I am strong when I am on your shoulders.
You raise me up to more than I can be.
Betcha didn’t expect this to start with Josh Groban lyrics (which are actually Secret Garden’s lyrics and music, which of course is Rolf Løvland and Brendan Graham).
Together, we helped each other with our grief and disbelief. We all loved Dave’s plan to get everyone together for the Ann Arbor Turkey Trot (an event Matt was going to run with Riley). We made t-shirts, bought t-shirts (nearly 200 in the first order). We pledged miles, and Dave pledged to donate money to the Jen-fund.
I don’t know what you believe, but many said they felt Matt running beside them.
It’s impossible to acknowledge everybody. Because it wasn’t just a few dozen people. It was hundreds and hundreds …heck …more than 100 people ran in Matt and Jen’s neighborhood, alone.
Thank you. Love you. May your holidays be filled with blessings and the spirit of M.A.T.T.
